How body fat is calculated
The US Navy method uses body circumferences and height to estimate body fat percentage. It's simple and fairly accurate.
BF% = 495 / (1.0324 - 0.19077 × log(waist-neck) + 0.15456 × log(height)) - 450Women:
BF% = 495 / (1.29579 - 0.35004 × log(waist+hip-neck) + 0.22100 × log(height)) - 450

How do I measure my waist?
Measure around your belly button while standing relaxed. Don't suck in your stomach.
How do I measure my neck?
Measure just below your Adam's apple (voice box). Keep the tape snug but not tight.
How do I measure my hips (women)?
Measure around the widest part of your hips and buttocks.
Is this method accurate?
It's reasonably accurate (within 3-4%) for most people, but not as precise as DEXA scans.
